<p>The light source includes a tubular lamp (3) which is coated on half of its surface by an internally reflecting mirror surface (12). The lamp is surrounded by a rotating tube (8) which has various coloured regions on its surface. This rotating tube is held between blocks (4) at either end of a reflector (13) in a rectangular casing (1). The casing has a semi-transparent front cover (2) enclosing the reflector. The rotating tube is driven by a small electric motor (11) with a belt forming the driving connection. Self-lubricating bearing surfaces are provided between the rotating tube and its two end supports. The unit may create effects similar to those provided by fibre optic devices, at a much reduced cost, using one source of light only.</p> |
