In a process of slaking fly ash contg. free lime, the ash is wetted using superheated water under conditions of pressure and/or flow ensuring sufficient wetting to effect slaking before vaoorisation. The ash may be heated before contact with the superheated water so as to obtain the temp. necessary for the slaking reaction. The resulting fly ash is used in the building industry and/or in public works for mfr. of pastes, mortars, concretes, etc.. The amt. of water necessary for complete slaking of the amt. of free lime at any moment can be established, esp. for fly ash obtd. from the combustion of lignite, without excessive cost and without destroying some of the hydraulic elements present.
|
