PURPOSE:To improve printing resistance and to reduce the collapsion and staining of images by processing a photographic element subjected to image-like exposure with a processing soln. which dissolves metallic salt particles in the presence of a reducing agent, and washing the same then processing it with an org. compd. soln. CONSTITUTION:An undercoating layer 2 is provided to a substrate 1 such as water resistant raw paper coated with PE having a hydrophilic surface and a hydrophilic colloidal layer 3 contg. developing nuclei for physical development is provided thereon. Further, a hydrophilic colloidal layer 4 contg. photosensitive silver halide particles and metallic salt particles of which the surface is made hardly soluble by a hard solubilizing agent, and which are easy to dissolve and have no photosensitivity is provided, whereby a photographic element is formed. After this photographic element is subjected to image-like exposure, the metallic salt particles are dissolved to deposit metallic images 3' on the physical developing nuclei, thence the colloidal layer 4 is washed away, and further the element is subjected to org. compd. soln. processing having metallic salt forming power to turn the metallic images lipophilic, whereby the lighographic printing plate is obtained. |
