The solid or semi solid electric guitar body is made of foamed plastics A clam type body shell may be injected with materials which react exothermically to produce foam. Different compartments in the body may be fitted with foam of different densities to produce desired acoustic properties. Some compartments may be left empty for electric compartments. The guitar neck may have a central channel containing a torsion rod to which a web from a fingerboard may be attached to stress the fingerboard is formed using exothermic reaction to produce foam within claim type body shell.
