A protective cover (9) is supported on a clamping ring (1) which can be placed on the objective of a telescopic sight such that said protective cover (9) can rotate about a pivoting axis (7) which is arranged transversely with respect to the clamping ring (1). For this purpose, the protective cover (9) is fitted on a lever (6) which has two catches (10, 16). A locking bolt can latch into these catches in such a manner that it fixes the closed position and a horizontal open position of the protective cover (9). Spring clips (7) allow the protective cover (9) to be propelled into the open position as soon as the locking bolt has been axially displaced and moves out of the catch (10). <IMAGE>
