The present invention relates to an automatic populating device for fitting electronic components, especially chip components, on a printed-circuit board, consisting of a head unit which moves (for example with the aid of driven threaded spindles) along suitable guides, both in the X-direction and in the Y-direction and transfers the individual components to predetermined points on the printed-circuit board which is to be populated. In the context of the invention, it is provided that the supplying device is a magazine which has a multiplicity of supply containers, and that the head unit has a gravity-feed chute in whose upper region an operating element is arranged for supplying in each case one component, while an operating element is provided in the further region which holds the component inside the gravity-feed chute and presses it home at the relevant point after moving to a position.
