PURPOSE:To decrease the loss by eddy current, by recording signals on a magnetic recording medium where easy magnetization axis of magnetic particles on the surface of a recording medium base is vertical to the base, through the use of an annular recording head. CONSTITUTION:As a recording tape where an eddy current loss is less, it is effective to make a tape magnetic layer nonconductive. Thus, a vertical magnetization recording can be made by using an annular type head through nonconductive magnetic layers. As the vertical recording tapes having nonconductivity, flaky hexagonal crystal barium ferrite magnetic powder having a magnetization easy axis is scattered in an organic binder and coated with a magnetic field vertically. Thus, for the vertical recording, the magnetization easy axes of the scattered magnetic powder on the magnetic layer of the magnetic tape are oriented on the tape surface almost vertically. Then, the loss due to eddy current can be reduced. |
