The invention relates to a unit for homogenising crushing material (1), in particular coal, to essentially uniform grain size. It has a roll crusher (2) for comminuting lumpy crushing material (3) by means of a crusher roll (4) on a crusher plate (5) arranged under the crusher roll (4) at a predetermined passage height for the crushing material to be comminuted. In addition, a conveyor (6) provides for the removal of the crushing material (1) to be homogenised. The conveyor (6) is run up to just in front of the crusher plate (5) at the level of the crusher plate (5), is then diverted downwards and is run further under the crusher plate (5). In the diverting area of the conveyor (6), a grading device (7) is arranged between the conveyor (6) and the crusher plate (5) for separating the comminuted coarse material (3) from the fine material (8) carried along with it. This grading device is designed as a lifting grate conveyor (7) consisting of at least two intermeshing grates (10, 11), of which at least one grate is driven as a lifting grate which can be moved in a reciprocating manner in the conveying direction and can also be lifted and lowered. <IMAGE>
