In a grinding machine with at least one grinding tool (1) and one driving device (4) and a number of steadying jaws (5, 6) for the work piece (2), the position of the steadying jaws relative to the grinding tool and the work piece can be altered at different phases of the grinding operation depending on the vibrations of each grinding cycle. The jaws should be located on a steadying device (7), which can be turned in a plane that is mainly perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the work piece. With a grinding machine as in the case of the invention, the placement of the steadying jaws can be adapted for every phase of the grinding cycle during the grinding operation, in order to obtain an optimum result whilst retaining production capacity.<IMAGE> |
