PURPOSE:To exactly predict the advancing condition of dephosphorization in a converter by a metahod in which the level of blowing sound generated in the converter is measured to estimate the level of slag in the making and refining of steel in an oxygen top-blowing converter. CONSTITUTION:In the refining involving the removal of silicon, carbon, and phosphorus by a blowing method in which pure oxygen is blown into an oxygen top-blowing converter 1, noise generated upon collision of exygen jet against molten pip iron goes up in a gas recovery hood 2 and is catched by a microphone 3. The noise so catched is processed by a noise meter 4, a filter 5, and a converter 6, and each sound pressure is sent out to a sound pressure level meter 7, or processed by a computer 8 and sent out to a displayer 9. The forming condition of molten slag as the refining proceeds is judged by the sound pressure level obtained said device, and its active condition before the sloping of formed slag is maintained. If the sloping is predicted, a forming inhibitor is charged and the sending speed of acid and the height of lance are adjusted. The lowering of yield of molten steel by sloping is prevented by judging the condition of dephosphorization in this way. |
