<p>PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the breakage of skirt and also recover waste gas by a method in which the height of scale adhered to the converter inlet is watched by TV camera and the aperture betwen the acale and the skirt of the converter inlet is adjusted. CONSTITUTION:A skirt 2 is attached in a vertically movable manner between the inlet of an oxygen-top blowing converter 1 and a waste gas recovery hood 3. When molten slag and stel scattering during the refining period are adhered to the converter inlet to form scale 17, the skirt 2 is damaged by the adherence of the molten slag and steel and its vertical movement becomes impossible. To prevent the trouble, plural TV cameras 10 for industrial purpose are provided to monitor the scale adhered to the converter inlet, the condition is judged by an image judging device 11 and compared with the maximum aperture set value from a skirt opening degree setter 12, and by the compared value, an oil-pressure controller 13 is actuated and an oil-pressure cylinder 15 is operated by an oil-pressure servo mechanism 14 in order to adjust the proper position of the skirt 2. Thus, the adherence of scale to the skirt 2 is prevented, the aperture in the converter inlet is minimized to prevent the intrusion of air, and the lowering of the calorie of recovery gas from the converter 1 is prevented.</p> |
