PURPOSE:To increase the durability of a magnetic recording medium, by increasing the wear-resisting performance of a magnetic layer through the provision of a lubricating layer made of fluoride, alkoxysilane and, silane fluoride on the magnetic layer formed on a base. CONSTITUTION:Fluoride such as tetrafluoroethylene olygomer and perfluoroalkyl polyether, alkoxysilane (e.g., formulaI), and silane fluoride (e.g., formula II; where n in 1-15) are dissolved into a solvent such as n-hexane. The obtained solution is coated or sprayed on a magnetic layer formed on a base and a lubricant layer is formed for an objective magnetic recording medium. Thus, through the assistance of the alkoxysilane and the silane fluoride, fluoride can be coated in excellent manner on the magnetic layer, and the lubricant effect of the fluoride excellent in the lubricating performance can sufficiently be given, allowing to increase the wear-resisting performance of the magnetic layer. |
