There are continuous washing machines with a plurality of special washing devices arranged in succession and with a respective associated drainage unit. These washing devices are to be omitted in the device according to the invention. On the contrary, there are provided only a plurality of drainage devices by means of suction, which are arranged in succession and the respective suction pipe of which is connected to only one vacuum pump.
