MANUFACTURE OF DIRECTIONAL SI-FE ALLOY THIN STRIP

PURPOSE:To raise the magnetic characteristics of a Si-Fe alloy thin strip by rolling a Si-Fe alloy thin strip obtained by an extra-quick cooling process in its longitudinal or widthwise direction in such a way that the axis[100]of the crystal is oriented in the widthwise or longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:A molten Si-Fe alloy is made into a thin strip alloy by an extra-quick cooling treatment, and then rolled in its longitudinal or widthwise direction in such a way that the axis[100]of the crystal is oriented in the longitudinal or widthwise direction. Thus, the orientation of the axis[100]as an easily magnetizable axis is effectively attained and the magnetic characteristics of the axis direction can be raised.
