PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the rate of erasure, by providing an auxiliary magnetic pole which forms a magnetic flux, adjacent to the 1st pole at the contact start point side of a magnetic medium. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic erasing head 1 having at least five poles where the magnetic material is isotropic magnet and the N and S poles are arranged alternately, an auxiliary pole 3 of N or S pole is provided to form a magnetic flux adjacent to the 1st pole 1a at the contact start point side of a magnetic medium 2. When an isotropic magnet is used as the magnetic material, the magnetization of the auxiliary pole 3 goes along the running direction of the magnetic medium 2. Thus, the auxiliary pole 3 is provided adjacent to the 1st pole 1a of the magnetic erasing head 1, allowing to increase the magnetic flux density of the 1st pole 1a is comparison with the absence of the auxiliary pole and to remarkably improve the rate of erasure. |
