The invention relates to a tank-like container (1) for treating wine mash, in particular to a fermentation tank for red wine mash, with a slowly running stirring apparatus which is rotatable about an axis parallel to a longitudinal axis and has a number of stirring blades (25, 54) distributed over the length of the stirring apparatus shaft (16) and arranged at a distance from one another. It consists in that at least one, preferably an outer, section (48) of the cross-sectional surface of the stirring apparatus blades (25, 54) extending parallel to the stirring apparatus axis (16) is greater than the cross-sectional surface at right angles to the stirring apparatus axis.
