A regulated power supply includes switching transistor (36) for alternately driving the two halves of an input winding (42) of an output transformer (44), and an output circuit (52) connected to an output winding (46) of the transformer. A digital controller (10) generates pulse-width modulated control signals for controlling the duty cycles of the switching transistors in order to regulate the output voltage of the power supply. In order to correct for an imbalance condition in the transformer, the controller generates digital signals when the magnetizing current of the transformer reaches a threshold value, these signals serving to alter momentarily the pulse-width modulated control signals so as to set magnetizing current to a level in a sense opposite to the sense of the threshold value. Since the controller is digital in construction, integrated circuit chips may be used so that the power supply is of simple construction and of low cost.
|
