The method involves segregating dense-medium materials and washing water after a washing process, for which purpose the plant is provided with a washing apparatus (2) and a dense-medium material separator (3) with a washing water separating apparatus (4) arranged downstream of the latter. In order to comminute plastics waste materials with a high degree of cleaning at the same time as a long service life, in particular of the cutting tools (16) fitted in the plant, and to avoid excessive local elongation of the plastics waste materials caused by worn cutting tools, the waste materials are first of all pre-comminuted, washed and, following separation of the dense-medium material, separated from the washing water before they are comminuted to the desired piece size. The comminuting apparatus of the plant comprises a pre-comminutor (1a) and an at least one-stage main comminutor (1b), the washing apparatus (2), the dense-medium material separator (3) and the separating device (4) for the washing water being provided between the pre-comminutor (1a) and the main comminutor (1b). <IMAGE> |
