Dust-free and free-flowing lead-containing compounds which contain a comparatively low level of additives and which are particularly suitable for the glass, ceramics and battery industries are obtained by mixing the compounds of lead with at least one water-soluble organic macromolecular substance with water retention properties in the form of an aqueous solution with or without a stabilising compound, mixing in a shearing apparatus, and then granulating. Suitable water-soluble organic macromolecular substances are for example cellulose ethers, starch and derivatives and degradation products thereof, polyvinyl alcohols and polyacrylates, which are preferably used in concentrations from about 0.02 to 0.5%, based on lead compound. Suitable stabilising agents are for example mono- and oligosaccharides, polyalcohols, and also acids, alkalis and silicate, which are preferably used in concentrations of not more than 3%, based on lead compound. <IMAGE> |
