It has following physical and chemical properties: a basic white powder; elementary analyses in %: C 43.00, H 7.21, N 10.47; melting point: 253 deg.C (decomposition); specific rotatoy power: [alpha]D<24>=+15.7 deg. (C=1 in H2O); ninhydrin and KMnO4 reactions are positive. USE:Antibacterial against gram-positive, -negative and acid-fast bacteria. PREPARATION:For example, a strain in Streptomyces such as Streptomyces kanamyceticus A-4-6 (FERM-5578) is cultured, preferably aerobically, at 28 deg.C. |
