PURPOSE:To eliminate the mismatching of vibration between a crystal oscillator and a support and improve the edge angle of the oscillator, by machining the crystal oscillator, one side of which is already machined and which is held by the support. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 30 such as a quartz crystal is held on one mount/ demount means 2. After a desired recess 35 is machined on one side of the work piece 30 by a tool 6 such as a whetstone, an adhesive is applied to the recess so that a machinable element 31 which functions as a holding jig is bonded on the recess. The opposite side of the machinable element 31 is processed to a spherical surface 33 by the tool 6. The spherical side 33 is then secured by another mount/demount means 2 opposed to the former. The other side of the workpiece 30 is machined by the tool 6. After that, the workpiece 30 and the element 31 are separated from each other by a solvent. |
