PURPOSE:To decrease the thermal effect of a tool on a machined diameter, by forming a mounting surface of the headstock of a horizontal bed lathe for a bed in such a manner as to provide a vertical step difference and generating the thermal displacement of the spindle center to the direction almost at a right angle with the cutting direction of the tool. CONSTITUTION:The cutting direction of a tool 7 in a horizontal bed lathe is sloped to a same direction for the horizontal surface. A mounting surface of a headstock 3 and a bed 1 is divided into two parts and provided with a vertical step difference by arranging a mounting surface 1a, immediately below a spindle, lower than another divided mounting surface 1b in the side of a tool rest 5. Each mounting surface 1a, 1b is parallelly formed to a horizontal guide level of the horizontal bed 1, and the thermal displacement of the spindle center O, displaced to the front diagonal direction Y-Y on the bisector of an angle <AOB, formed by a tightening point A of a bolt 8a, tightening point B of a bolt 8b and the center O of the spindle 2, is generated to the direction almost at a right angle with the cutting direction of the tool to decrease an effect on a machined diameter and obtain stable work accuracy for a work. |
