PURPOSE:To produce I-beams of good shapes and dimensions at a low cost in the stage of rolling the I-beams from ingots by rolling a roughly worked ingot respectively under specific rolling conditions with the roughing universal mills, edger mills and finishing universal mills. CONSTITUTION:After a continuously cast steel ingot or the like is rolled to a roughly worked ingot with the roughing mills, it is rolled to an I-beam with the roughing universal mills, edger mills and finishing universal mills. In this case, the roughing universal mills consist of horizontal rolls 11a, 11b, and vertical rolls 12a, 12b, of which the angle theta1 of inclination of the side faces is 8-11 deg., and the corner radii are two steps radii R1, R2; the tangent of the R1 is 1-3mm. inner than the side faces of the rolls 11a, 11b, and the R1 is made the same as the fillet radius of the product I-beam. The ingot is rolled with the horizontal rolls 11a, 11b of which the R2 is set at 2-3 times the R1 and the vertical rolls 12a, 12b of which the angle theta2 of inclination of the side faces is 0-3 deg.. |
