<p>Enrichment of phosphate minerals contained in siliceous and/or carbonate gangue by flotation comprises: (a) a first stage during which the mineral, as a pulp at its natural pH, is treated for 1-3 mins. by a collector, comprising a mixt. of a surfactant and an alcohol, after which almost all of the siliceous gangue is removed; (b) in a second stage, the phosphate particles are desorbed from the collector and sunk, allowing the carbonate part of the gangue to be removed by flotation. The desorption of the phosphate from the collector is effected chemically, using mineral or organic acids, or is effected mechanically, by prolonging (2-7mins.) the time of contact of the mineral pulp with the collector.
