PURPOSE:To adjust density automatically easily and securely by the automatic picture-quality adjusting device of a reader for an original which has plural magnification modes, by providing a reference member for picture-quality adjustment near the outside of a readout area at the reference position of an original readout part. CONSTITUTION:For nonmagnification mode, an optical axis 10 and a strike reference surface 11 for original conveyance are provided, and an original is set and mounted on the basis of the reference surface 11 without reference to variable magnification mode, so that the original is conveyed for reading operation on the basis of the surface 11. In this case, a reference white part is provided near an effective readout area in the original on the side of the strike reference surface 11, and the angles of view of lenses of various magnifications are set a little bit greater than that of the effective picture read. Then, each lens covers the reference white part easily in every magnification mode to expose it to part of a CCD. Therefore, the CCD is only long enough to slightly exceed the number of bits required to read picture information effectively. |
