PURPOSE:To launch a caisson safely and for certain by mounting a caisson built on the ground on a barge seated on the sea bottom, and after draining, floating, and towing the barge, again flooding and submerging the barge. CONSTITUTION:A concrete caisson 1 is built at a caisson production yard on the ground, and after completion, is towed and mounted on a semi-submergible barge 5 seated on a fabricated sea bottom mound 7. Next, this barge 5 is drained, floated, and towed to a position with a suitable depth, then the barge is again flooded and submerged to float and launch the concrete caisson 1. |
