PURPOSE:To reduce the vibration of a reading mechanism at each step and to obtain a high-quality picture, by directly driving the reading mechanism by means of a linear step motor provided at the driving part of the reading mechanism. CONSTITUTION:An original 2 is put on a transparent platen glass 1 fixed to an immobile member, and plural light sources 4, lenses and reading elements 6 are incorporated into a reading mechanism 3 set under the glass 1. A plane linear step motor 18 is constituted by a rotor 16 and a stator 17. Four rotors 16 are arranged with a shift of 1/4 pitch secured to the groove of the stator 17. The reading mechanism 3 is directly driven by the step motor 18. |
