PURPOSE:To shorten a transmission time by efficiently encoding an order signal while considering the order of forecasting levels, by a system which forecasts and encodes a digital signal having level values by a preceding digital signal. CONSTITUTION:A signal level at a reference point is used to forecast the 1st forecasting level at an aimed point. Then, Fig. A shows that while succeeding levels following the 1st one are considered to become higher and higher as their level difference from the 1st forecasting level are less and less, forecasting levels are rearranged with regard to eight level values. Further, Fig. B shows rewritten levels indicating an order signal to the signal level at the aimed point. When the order signal in Fig. B is encoded and transmitted, it is estimated that as the numeral of the order signal is less and less, its probability of appearance is higher and higher without reference to the 1st forecasting level, so mean signal length is shortened, thereby shortening a transmission time. |
