PURPOSE:To operate a two-dimensional correlation in real time, by obtaining a speed vector and a speed variance vector on a basis of tracking points for several input pictures ending with the i-th input picture and forcasting a tracking point for the (i+1)th input picture and setting the dimensions of an operation region on a basis of the absolute value of the speed variance vector. CONSTITUTION:A speed vector and a speed variance vector are obtained on a basis of J-number tracking points, obtained for input pictures from the (i+j-1)th to the i-th, out of tracking points obtained by detecting coordinates which give a maximum value of the coefficient of correlation, and a tracking point for the (i+1)th input picture is forecasted, and a correlation operation region is limited near this forecasted position. Dimensions of the operation region are set in proportion to the absolute value of the speed variance vector. Thus, the operation time for the coefficient of correlation is independent of the number of picture elements of a picture to be correlated, and pictures of the standard television scanning system are correlated and tracked in real time. |
