The root crop harvester is hitched to a tractor and comprises a wheeled chassis (1) on which a cage (5) defined by longitudinal bars (7) is mounted. The cage has an upper (23) and a lower (19) opening defined by the bars providing an outlet and an inlet for the crops. An Archimedean screw (11) is mounted vertically within the cage to raise the crops. The front end of the screw is extended downwards and has a rotatable disc (16) mounted on it for gathering up the feet or potatoes from the ground. The dia. of the disc is equal to that of the cage and its upper surface is swept by the lower edge of the rotating screw.
