A grinding machine, especially for continuous hot grinding continuous cast workpieces (2) at their transport between continuous casting and subsequent rolling. The machine comprises a machine stand (1), in which a plurality of grinding modules are attached, the grinding wheels (1) of which are so distributed that they together cover the entire width of the respective workpiece surfaces to be ground. At each grinding stand a grinding motor (6) is rigidly connected to a spline axle (5) with a grinding spindle (3) movable in a spindle housing (11). On said spindle (3) the grinding wheel (1) is attached. By means of a hydraulic piston (9) the movement of the grinding spindle and thereby of the grinding wheel to and from, and also the pressure against the strand can be adjusted. The force of the hydraulic cylinder (9) in the direction to the work-piece preferably is adjusted by the effect control of the grinding wheel, so that in this way a soft coupling-in and coupling-off of the grinding wheel at spot machining of the workpiece (2) is obtained. |
