PURPOSE:To produce a composite material having corrosion resistance and good conductivity by reducing a corrosion-resistant metallic pipe packed with metallic powder or granules and welding the same to a long-sized pipe then sintering and annealing the same by heating followed by finish rolling. CONSTITUTION:Al powder 2 is packed in a Ti pipe 1 at about 35-45% packing rates, and both ends are hermetically closed by plugs 3, and are drawn, after which the inside of the pipe 1 is evacuated. Thence, the pipe is drawn by swaging, and is annealed at about 500-800 deg.C. The reduced and annealed material 4 is welded W to a longer size, and further the inside of the pipe 1 is evacuated and the pipe is reduced by swaging. This is further reduced by using roller dies and conical dies. The reduced material 4 is heated to about 800-1,200 deg.C, whereby the Al powder 2 is sintered and the pipe 1 is annealed. Finally, this is finish- rolled with conical dies, whereby the composite material having Ti-Al alloy diffusion layers K between the sintered Al 2 and the Ti pipe 1 is obtained. |
