A guidance system for parachutists is designed to provide information transmission from the ground after leaving the aircraft. Information regarding the ground target location is transmitted either by a pulsed coded infra red emission or by laser beam. The parachutist wears equipment in the form of an optical amplifier and filter goggles. The data received are interpreted and used to provide directional steering. Additionally, the parachutist may carry an on-board microcomputer system to allow wind and altitude effects to be computed.
