PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of an error in reading of commodity name code and to enable increasing of the number of columns for the commodity name code irrespective of a reading element, by a method wherein while a commodity name plate is guided and moves from a fetching position to a printing position, the commodity name code is read. CONSTITUTION:A drawing member 18 is housed in a rail guide 17, and the member 18, provided with a projecting piece 19, a handle 20, and positioning pins 22a and 22b, moves to a fetching position from a printing position. During a period between a time when a commodity name plate 11 is located to the fetching position and a time when it is attached to the printing position, a projecting part 11b of the commodity name plate 11 passes through a commodity name code reading device 30. Then, collectors 31b, 32b, 33b, and 34b of the device 30 read a commodity name code. Thus, when the commodity name plate 11 is located in the printing position of a printing mechanism 23, a reading of the commodity name code is complete without fail. |
