Spindle carrier of machining centres, in the housing (1) of which the following are arranged coaxially and connected to one another for common rotation: a spindle (4) which is kinematically connected to a drive, a drawbar (14) which carries elements for connecting to the shank (11) of a boring head (9) having a rest (10) for the radial movement and is arranged in an axially displaceable manner with regard to the spindle (4), and a bar (26) which has tooth elements for connecting to tooth elements attached to an end of a stock (31) and is mounted on a carriage (35) which is kinematically connected to a drive for movement in the axial direction with regard to the spindle (4). The bar (26) is of hollow design, and located in its hollow space is a plunger (44) which is connected to the bar (26) for common rotation and to the carriage (35) for movement in the axial direction. The bar (26) is mounted on the carriage (35) in a displaceable manner relative to the latter in the axial direction to the preliminary applied pressure of the stock (31) against the plunger (44) and is elastically pressed in the axial direction with regard to the plunger (44). <IMAGE>
