The invention relates to a method for processing fibrous or non-fibrous materials, in particular horse manure, waste materials, excrement etc. which are subsequently fed to further processing. A comminution device disintegrating the mass of material which is diluted or not diluted with water and out of which the portions which cannot be comminuted, such as for example stones, metals etc., are separated off by means of gravity, the material subsequently being repeatedly fed through the comminution device, fed back directly into the reservoir vessel after each comminution process and being continuously agitated there, and a device for carrying out the method.
