PURPOSE:To pick up a stable stroke from a subpattern, and to simplify the processing, through the storage of a quantized digital signal to a pattern register as an original pattern and the pickup of the subpattern of the stroke component of each direction from the pattern. CONSTITUTION:A binary character input signal 1 is stored in a pattern register 2 and the width of lines in an input signal 1 is calculated at a line width calculation section 3. Based on the width of lines from the register 2 and the calculation section 3 at each of subpattern pickup sections 4-7, a vertical subpattern, a horizontal subpattern, a right inclined subpattern and a left inclined subpattern are picked up and the respective subpattern is applied to stroke detections 8-11. The strokes detected at the detection sections 8-11 are stored in a stroke register 12, the stroke is picked up from the respective subpattern and the stroke pickup processing is performed simply and stably. |
