1491814 Unsaturated haloacetamides CIBAGEIGY AG 18 June 1975 [19 June 1974] 25991/75 Heading C2C N-Alken-(1)-yl-(1)-monohaloacetamides of general formula wherein R 1 is Cl or Br; R 2 is alkyl or cycloalkyl of up to 6 C atoms; R 3 and R 4 are each H or C 1-6 alkyl or, together, they form a polymethylene bridge member, the sum of C atoms in radicals R 2 , R 3 and R 4 being 1-9, and R 5 is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl of up to 6 C atoms or C 2-4 alkenyl, are prepared by reacting a ketone with an amine R 5 -NH 2 to give a Schiff base and subsequently reacting it with an acid halide R 1 CH 2 COHal where Hal is Cl or Br, in the presence of an acid binding agent. Amongst the examples the compounds N-(1-isopropyl-vinyl)- N-21-methoxyethyl-chloroacetamide and N-(1- n-propylbuten-1-yl) -N-2-propenyl chloroacetamide are prepared. Herbicidal and/or plant-growth regulating compositions comprise a compound of Formula I as active ingredient together with one or more carriers and/or distributing agents.
