The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a thermoplastic moulding composition from a copolymer A) containing predominantly styrene, a graft copolymer B) containing predominantly styrene, a polycarbonate C) and optionally additives D), by mixing the components of the moulding composition in the melt in mixing units which have a plurality of feed zones and at least one vent zone. Firstly, the graft copolymer B) is introduced into the first zone of the mixing unit. The melt of the polycarbonate C) is introduced into a second zone of the mixing unit, which, with respect to the conveying direction, is behind the first zone. Preference is given to graft copolymers B) which have a residual moisture content of 5-50% by weight, based on the solid B). The mixtures claimed are suitable for the production of mouldings.
