A transportable insert for a storage rack (1) for accommodating and holding the fuel elements (27) at prescribed fuel element locations has on its base a threaded bore (14) in which there is screwed a hollow member (15) whose top side matches the underside of the fuel element (27). Cutouts (22) for the horizontal engagement of a gripper are provided on the upper end of the insert (10) on at least two opposite sides. The invention comes into consideration for disposal installations, in particular, because the hollow member permits adaptation to fuel elements which are to be accommodated in various ways. <IMAGE>
