The invention relates to a jig control system for the stroke length and/or frequency of a wet jig for the preparation of raw minerals, in particular raw coal, the length and/or frequency of the jigging stroke being set automatically according to predetermined optimisation curves as a function of the varying preparation characteristics of the feed material. To this end, the raw material is divided into grain size categories, and the length and/or frequency of the jigging stroke is preferably set according to the average grain size of the two proportionally largest grain size categories. Here, the length and/or frequency of the jigging stroke is kept constant as long as the deviations in the grain size and/or other parameters do not exceed a predetermined limit value.
