Ventilating device for roofs, having a baseplate which is to be fastened in the region of the roof surface and in which there is provided an opening which also passes through the roof, having a ventilating stub projecting beyond the roof level, and having a ventilating shaft (4) which adjoins the opening towards the bottom and is terminated towards the bottom by a base trough (10). Walls project between base trough (10) and baseplate (1), which walls have perforations (18) which permit an air stream flowing transversely and vertically with respect to the roof surface, but prevent snow and dust from trickling out - even when the ventilating shaft is full. The walls of the ventilating shaft (4) preferably comprise strips (15) which are located at a distance one above the other, overlap in horizontal plan view and are inclined towards the interior of the shaft. <IMAGE>
