The invention relates to a welding-current transformer, in the case of which the primary winding and the secondary winding are divided and accommodated in chambers such that a constant welding-voltage/welding-current characteristic is maintained on one part of the secondary winding elements which are connected in series, and a falling welding-voltage/welding-current characteristic is maintained on another part of the secondary winding elements which are connected in series. As a result of its construction, the welding-current transformer of this type is suitable on its own for use as a combined welding apparatus, using which electrode welding, tungsten inert gas welding and MIG/MAG welding are possible.
