PURPOSE:To prevent an erroneous operation, by detecting breakage of a tape at every n rotations of a flyer, and judging that the tape has been broken when the pulse count number of a tape passing signal has reached specified value. CONSTITUTION:The tape detector 15 includes a light emitter 13 and a light receiver 14 that are oppositely positioned so that the tapes 6 pass therebetween, and the detector 15 is positioned in front of a point where the tapes 6 led from tape pads 5 adjacent to a tape winder are wound around an elongate member. The same tape 6 is detected twice at every rotation of the flyer 2. At every n rotations of the flyer 2 the pulse number of the tape passing signal from the tape detector 15 is counted by a tape breakage detecting unit 20, and when the counted value is less than 2n(m-1)+1, it is judged that the tape has been broken. Thus, the breakage of the tape can be possitively detected without adversely influencing the passing of the tapes 6. |
