Method of, and apparatus for, anchoring off-shore structures.

In a method of anchoring an off-shore structure, a flatable carrier (10) is loaded with piles (24), caused to sink at a selected location, and then used to drive the piles (24) into the ocean floor. The carrier (10) is then raised for reloading. A template (12) or other structure to be anchored by the piles can be secured to the carrier to be transported and positioned. Preferably, the piles are driven by the expansion and contraction of hydraulic cylinders (26) incorporated in the carrier. The arrangement disclosed avoids the difficulties encountered in past apparatus and proposals in securing efficient transfer of energy to the piles to be driven and in positioning the pile driving mechanism in relation to the piles.
