PURPOSE:To prevent the refuse to be incinerated from getting dry, solidified, ignited, or burnt, in the state that the seal to a furnace is held, when the operation of an incinerator is suspended, by providing a passage to feed incombustible material, in the middle part of a passage to feed refuse to be incinerated. CONSTITUTION:A gate 5 is closed, while a gate 10 is opened, when the operation of an incinerator is suspended. Then, incombustible material 8 in a hopper 9 is fed into a passage 2 for the refuse to be incinerated, passing through a passage 7 for feeding the incombustible material. The material 8 is gradually replaced by the refuse 6 to be incinerated, accompanied with the conveying operation of a screw conveyors 3, coming up to the condition that the passage 2 is filled with the incombustible material. In this material 8 filled condition, the heat transferred from an incinerator 1 to reach the refuse 6 is reduced to a small value, because of the resistance against the heat transferred, by the material 8 which is filled in the passage 2 for the refuse 6, and also because of the cooling-radiating function of the material 8 itself. Accordingly, the refuse 6 is prevented from getting dry, solidified, or being burnt. |
