PURPOSE:To obtain the titled lens having the oxygen transmitting properties necessary for the corneal physiology, the sufficient strength plus the high stability and high durability, by copolymerizing the specific three types of monomers and a crosslinking monomer with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate used as the main component. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer contains 35-55wt% 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, about 10-30% dimethylacrylamide, about 10-30wt% N-vinylpyrolidone, about 5-12wt% alkyl methacrylate and about 0.1-2.0wt% crosslinking monomer (ethyene glycol methacrylate, etc.) respectively. This copolymer is used for production of a contact lens. As a result, the sufficient oxygen transmitting properties necessary for the corneal physiology with 50-60wt% moisture content is secured along with high working performance, high transparency, high heat resistance (to resist to the sterilization by boiling) plus high strength and high durability respectively. |
