PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor high in light response gain, by adding a specified cyanine compound as a charge generating material and a specified hydrazone derivative as a charge transfer material to a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A material contained in a charge generating layer as a charge generating material is a cyanine compound represented by the formulaIin which X<-> is an anion such as halogen, BF4, R'COO, R''-SO3, R'''SO4, or NO3; R', R'', R''' are optionally substituted alkyl or phenyl, or the like; R1, R2 are optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; n is 1, 2, or 3; the formula III is a heterocyclic group; and H in the vinylene chain may be substituted for optionally substituted alkyl or phenyl or a alkoxy, or the like. A charge transfer material contained in a charge transfer layer is a hydrazone derivative represented by the formula II in which RA, RB, RC are methyl or ethyl, and B is the formula IV, V, or VI. Both the layers are formed on a conductive substrate to form a laminate photoconductive layer, or both the materials are contained in a single photoconductive layer, thus permitting a high photosensitivity electrophotographic receptor to be obtained. |
