PURPOSE:To obtain spherical carbonaceous particles, having improved handleability and strength, by granulating carbon black having a specific particle diameter, impregnating the granulated carbon black with a carbonizable binder, and activating the resultant spherical materials of given particle diameter. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black having particle diameter of 100-3,000Angstrom is granulated to give spherical materials having a spherical diameter of 0.1-5mm.. The resultant granulated spherical materials are then impregnated with a phenolic resin or furfuryl alcoholic resin dissolved in an organic solvent. The granulated materials impregnated with the carbonizable binder are then calcined and carbonized in an inert atmosphere and then activated with steam, gaseous carbon dioxide, etc. |
