PURPOSE:To achieve high track density recording with the positioning of data track on a head with high accuracy, by driving and controlling winding/payoff reels so that the track positioning shift of the head can be zeroed. CONSTITUTION:The recorder has a drum 2 having a lot of heads 3 on which a tape 1 is wound with an angle of >=180 deg. and scans the recording surface at the inside of the tape rotatingly, a winding/payoff motor 8 of the tape 2 and a control circuit 9 with various functions. The tape 1 is wound on the drum 2 with a minute tilt angle theta in spiral, a data track group 15 is formed in the head scanning region, and a track positioning signal 17 which detects a relative positioning shift between the heads 3 and a data track 18 corresponding to an address signal track being able to select the group 15 and each data track 18 is recorded on the group 15. At recording/reproduction of data, the signal 17 is detected with the selected head 3 and the motor 8 is driven and controlled so that the positioning shift between the head 3 and the track 18 can be zeroed. |
